Run For Life
Jill and Heather took part in the Run for Life in Sefton Park, both ladies completed the course and raised a staggering £800 for a charity that is very close to their heart.

Summer Fair
We held our Summer Fair on 21st July and it was a lot of fun, it was lovely to see so many visitors and we hope you all enjoyed the afternoon. We had entertainers in who the residents really enjoyed.
August
5th August
Gerry came to entertain us on his keyboard the residents enjoyed the singalong. The residents really interact well with this social event.
23rd August
We held an amazing Hawaiian theme party. Many of the residents actively took part by wearing Hawaiian shirts and the ladies wore grass skirts and garlands!
We had a ukelele band who involved the residents in dancing and sing alongs.
September
9th September
Squeeze Box Steve came along and entertained us to celebrate Val’s 80th Birthday. It was a fabulous afternoon and many of Val’s family joined her on the day and some of them had travelled from the United States
21st September
We had a fantastic afternoon entertained by Elvis who gave an amazing rendition of Are You Lonesome Tonight. The afternoon was to celebrate Hannah’s birthday
Some families have organised for entertainers to come and visit the home on special occassions, if this is something you would like to do please speak to Pauline
Activities
Wednesday
In the morning we do chair exercises and physical activities to music so if you are feeling fit please come along 10.30am onwards
Friday
We have a Tea Party with music and dancing. Residents enjoy this afternoon session, relatives are warmly invited to come along and join in. Pauline sets the tables and the china cups and saucers, come along it is a lovely atmosphere!

A copy of the menu is on display in the corridor on Green unit and in the main dining room, if you have any concerns about the menu please do not hesitate to make contact. We also do have an alternative menu if a resident wishes to have something else to eat
Communion
Just so that you are aware we hold communion twice a month, a minister or lay person holds the communion in the lounge
Questionnaire
Thank you to everyone who returned their questionnaire your feedback enables us to develop the service and improve your relative’s lives. Copies of the questionnaire results are in the conservatory. Once again thank you I will keep you up to date as we improve the service.
Redecoration
We hope we have not caused too much inconvenience while we have been decorating the home while you have been visiting. Recently the small lounge near Blue unit was re painted. Nearly all the toilets and bathrooms have been updated and we hope to have completed all the remaining bathrooms and toilets by the end of November.
The main dining room and the family room will be redecorated shortly. In the New Year we will focus on the corridors being repainted as some of the corridors are looking tired.
Birthday Celebrations
Bryan Press, Joan Hughes, Jean Garcia, Doreen Potter, Ada Bennett, Joan Wright, Ellen Jasper , Dorothy Clarke, Margaret Hughes, Val Williams and Tom Woods.
Family Room
We have a family room that visitors are able to use if they wish for more privacy or if they wish to book the room for small family gatherings to celebrate events with their relative. There is no charge for the room we just need to know in advance so the room can be booked. Please speak to Pauline or a senior member of staff.
Clothing
We have a large number of clothing that is almost new sadly the clothing is not marked with anyone’s name on. We would greatly appreciate it if you would speak to staff that would willingly show you the items as they may be long to your relative.
Hospital Appointments
Unfortunately we are unable to release staff to attend planned medical appointments, we appreciate this may cause you some difficulties but we have to consider the welfare of the remaining residents who live in the home.
Managers Surgery
I hold a managers surgery every 3 months the purpose of the day is for relatives to book a time of their choosing to meet with me to discuss their relatives plan of care. If you are unable to attend the meeting please contact Joan to re arrange a more convenient time that suits you.
Carers Group
We hold a carers group every 3 months the meeting focus on what is happening in the home, this will include staff training, new policies and any concerns you may wish to discuss. There is also an opportunity for you to meet other relatives. A notice goes up in the conservatory 1 week before the meeting and we will email relatives who have agreed to be contacted.
