Summer Holidays

We would ask families to remember if you are going away can you please inform the home of the dates you are away and who the home should contact in an emergency. We do hope you have a fantastic holiday.

Hairdressing

This is just a reminder of the hairdressing arrangements in Redcourt; if you wish to have your relative’s hair styled by the hairdressers Jean and Eileen, who visit the home on a Tuesday, we ask that you leave the hairdressing money with us prior to the hairdressers coming on the Tuesday so that we can pay Jean and Eileen on the day. Both ladies have been coming to style the residents hair for the past 5 years. Feedback from relatives has always been positive of how well everyone’s hair is styled.

Pharmacy

The home uses Dempsey’s Pharmacy, which is based in Garston, the pharmacy is not open to the public but to care homes. We have been using Dempsey’s for a number of years and they provide an excellent service including out of hours.

Deprivation of Liberty and Safeguarding (DOLs)

Many of you will be aware that if your relative lives in a care home and has dementia then I need to apply for a DOLs to the local authority. The reason for this is because residents living in Redcourt who have dementia, lack capacity to make decisions themselves. The staff team, you and other professionals make decisions in your relatives Best Interest in line with the Mental Capacity Act 2005. Over the coming weeks I will be speaking to those families whose relative I need to apply for DOLs.  There is not financial cost to relatives or the home for applying for DOLs.

If you have any concerns about DOLs please do not hesitate to contact me on 0151 724 1733.
